01) Was sind die wichtigsten Änderungen seit der letzten CD?
I suppose we’re a little older now and know exactly what we like and what we’re about. The main change is we’ve focused only on music from close to home, Ulster in the North of Antrim. We’ve got the usual mix of upbeat numbers to dance to and the slower songs of love and trauma!
02) Lange Zeit habt ihr ohne Schlagzeug durchgehalten. Warum nun doch die Entscheidung für ein Schlagzeug?
We still love the bodhran in our sets but we find the drums really add the punch we love to finish big festivals and concerts with and it definitely adds a new dimension to our music. Drums add a little more magic to the Rapparees.
03) Die Frage muss sein: Was sagt euer Bandname über euch?
The Rapparees were ancient Irish highway men. They would have roamed the countryside in Ireland and robbed from the rich living lavish drunken lifestyles. Not exactly how we behave in the band but we like to think some of that spirit lives on in the band today.
04) Ihr tourt erstaunlich viel durch Deutschland. Was sind eure Eindrücke auf diesen Touren?
We love playing in Germany and have really fallen in love with the people and the places. It definitely has the best crowds in Europe (outside Ireland obviously!) The people have such a love of music, of Irish music and the appreciation and warmth we get off the crowds, in theatres and festivals makes it worth every flight, 7 hour drive or train to get to the shows and we hope to be back for many years to come.
05) Wo soll es in Zukunft mit den RAPPAREES hingehen?
We aim to play to more people, in more venues, in more towns in Germany. Thats the aim every time we set foot in Germany. We want to play our music, at the best level to win more and more fans so that The Rapparees become more and more well known in Germany and we feel that thats exactly whats been happening every year since we arrived.
Wäre schon schön, noch einmal live …Irgendwo im Norden Deutschlands.
Gut gegen trübe Stimmung und ebenso gut für stille Momente ist unverändert der Silberling aus 2011. (In die RE:SESSION sollte ich wohl endlich mal richtig hineinhören, wie?!)

Hi,
ich habe sie vor kurzem das erste mal gesehen und muss sagen, ich bin sehr angetan von der Musik aber auch von der Band also von dem was an Spielfreude an Witz und Power rüberkommt. Manche Bands versinken in ihrem virtuosen Spiel und verlieren so etwas den Draht zum Publikum. Wenn man den Geiger sieht mit welchem körperlichen Einsatz er spielt (hat in dem Konzert sogar 2 Saiten gerissen), dann denkt man beinahe, es ist eine Rockband. Und sehr sympathisch sind die Jungs auch. Also Fazit: Absolut sehenswert.
